***Assistance from REC Campus for Sri Lankan students in Russia & Belarus***
There are around 700 Sri Lankan students currently in Kursk and Tver cities in Russia and REC Campus has already started to assure the safety of our students with the guidance of Embassy Of The Democratic Socialist Republic Of Sri Lanka in Moscow and the assistance of Sri Lankan Business Council (SLBC) in Russia.
At the very beginning of rising COVID 19 cases in Russia, with the coordination of Tver State Medical University and the Kursk State Medical University authorities; online lectures and distance learning facilities were established to minimize the exposure. Simultaneously face masks and hand sanitizers were distributed among all students free of charge by REC.
Considering the importance of students’ health and safety, preventive measures were strengthened introducing emergency contact numbers, daily monitoring of body temperature and prompt attention to any health issues etc. As foods are freely available in the city, online ordering system was introduced to students for minimizing their risk of exposure.
Moreover, there are around 500 students in Grodno state medical university and Gomel state medical university in Belarus and same preventive measures have been implemented with the support of universities.
Dedicated 24 x7 Service of the Sri Lankan embassy is highly appreciated, especially their close coordination with students, universities, representatives and preparing evacuation plan according the prevailing situation. Also the assistance of SLBC is remarkable in this process.
We wish all these dedications will make our students safe and healthy from COVID-19 epidemic.
